Orchard Road: Beyond a premier shopping street
From plantations to residences, Orchard Road has since evolved into an internationally renowned shopping destination with public spaces and recreational activities for all to enjoy.
As we envision the next phase of Orchard Road’s evolution, plans are underway to maintain its appeal as a must-visit lifestyle destination that goes beyond offering retail options, with fun and differentiated experiences for everyone.

A bustling Paterson neighbourhood
At the doorstep of Orchard Road, Paterson is planned as a new mixed-use neighbourhood that enjoys unbeatable access to lifestyle offerings, amenities and public transport nodes.

Injecting a new hub for activities
An integrated development on top of Orchard MRT Interchange station will provide a new amenity hub for new and surrounding residents, providing a mix of uses — from retail, food and beverage, to offices and residences.
Enhancing connections
Planned walk-cycle infrastructure within the neighbourhood will make streets more friendly for walking and cycling. Cycling paths along the Inner Ring Corridor will connect Paterson to neighbouring areas such as Orchard, Newton and beyond.
Anchoring the community within the bustle
A series of public spaces will not only allow communities to gather, but also serve as an attractive, shop-lined route that will extend towards Orchard and the rest of the River Valley area.
Bring back the Orchard
A green urban corridor
Orchard Road, envisioned as a lush green corridor, is being enhanced by planting shade trees and colourful shrubs from the Singapore Botanic Gardens to Dhoby Ghaut.

A green oasis in Dhoby Ghaut
There are plans to create a destination park in the heart of Orchard Road with the merging of Dhoby Ghaut Green, Istana Park and a 500-metre stretch of Orchard Road. This transforms the precinct into a family-friendly lifestyle zone to ‘bring back the Orchard’. There are also plans for Istana Heritage Gallery to be remodelled and a new temperature-controlled glass house which showcases Singapore’s historic role as a global botanical hub.

There are also plans for the park to provide activity spaces for all to enjoy, such as a nature playgarden for the young, an open lawn and an activity promenade to hold events, a Citizen’s Fountain, and a dedicated SG Women’s Garden.
