Rejuvenating our Downtown
Our Downtown will continue evolving as a vibrant mixed-use district that is globally attractive and locally relevant. There will be rejuvenated workplaces and new recreational offerings as well as active waterbodies and public spaces for respite.

Our Downtown: A place for all
Since the city’s early urban renewal efforts in the 1960s, the ‘Golden Mile’ and ‘Golden Shoe’ have seen major transformation over the years to form part of Singapore’s dynamic Downtown.
Today, our Downtown is a thriving business and financial hub and a vibrant mixed-use district with quality city living opportunities.
With changing work and lifestyle trends, our Downtown will continue to evolve to host a diverse array of experiences, ranging from arts and culture, to recreational uses so that it is not only an attractive place for work but also a vibrant lifestyle destination where people can live, work, and play.

Enhancing the global and financial hub
Within the Central Business District (CBD), older developments in Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar are being transformed with quality public spaces, exciting amenities, and better connectivity. The neighbouring Marina Bay, which extends the CBD with a mixture of offices, residences, hotels, and event facilities, also continues to grow.
Ready for the future of work
At Raffles Place, the redevelopment of the former Golden Shoe Carpark has introduced new Grade A offices, serviced residences, a public hawker centre, lofty sky terraces and a rooftop farm. Connectivity enhancements will make Raffles Place even more pedestrian-friendly and accessible to the rest of the CBD.
At Marina Bay and along Beach Road, vibrant mixed-use developments will further transform the area with Grade A offices, attractive hotels, distinctive homes, and dynamic lifestyle amenities, elevating its status as a thriving business and leisure destination.
New offices at Guoco Midtown served by its own network hub and lifestyle amenities including restaurants housed in the former Beach Road Police Station.

Raffles Place Park, a signature public space will be revamped with varied gathering spaces and a new event plaza to allow more community events to be held in the CBD.
Boosting business and tourism appeal
Our Downtown will see more meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) facilities, strengthening its position as a leading business and tourism destination to host major international events and conferences.
Singapore’s position as an international cruise hub will be strengthened with Disney Cruise Line making Singapore its first year-round home port in Southeast Asia from 2025, operating from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore.
A Wellness Attraction is planned in nearby Marina South to position Singapore as a haven for urban wellness.

Shaping a loveable mixed-use district
Beyond a place for work, our Downtown will offer more opportunities for city living, fostering a stronger sense of community.
Live, work, play and more
Newport Plaza, The Skywaters, and 15 Hoe Chiang Road are new mixed-use developments supported under the CBDI scheme that feature new public spaces and connectivity enhancements.

New residential development at One Bernam will offer more city living opportunities, public spaces, and amenities.
The Anson-Tanjong Pagar area is transforming into a vibrant, mixed-use urban neighbourhood adjacent to the existing residential communities with over 1,100 new homes alongside a network of inviting streets and cosy squares. Supported by the Central Business District Incentive (CBDI) scheme, 4 office developments will be transformed into mixed-use developments.
Retail and dining options will enliven the neighbourhood's streets and squares. Public courtyards interspersed throughout the area seek to provide spaces for communities to gather or find respite. These are complemented by new cycling paths and sheltered walkways to make Anson-Tanjong Pagar a walkable and delightful mixed-use neighbourhood.
The People’s Bay: A lively playground for all
Marina Bay's vibrant waterfront promenade comes alive with joggers, cyclists and families enjoying the bay views, while its waters play host to daily sightseeing cruises, dragon boating, and sailing activities.
The bay also hosts major sporting events and national celebrations throughout the year, from i Light Singapore to the F1 Night Race.
New additions like NS Square and Passion Wave Outpost @ Bayfront will further enhance the recreational offerings with community sports facilities, a water sports centre, and more opportunities for kayaking and pedal boating.
With the feedback gathered at the recent Recreation Master Plan exhibition, we have plans to roll out short-term sports uses while longer-term plans take shape. Other potential short-term uses could include destination F&B, retail and lifestyle offerings, in addition to events and leisure activities.
Places built on partnerships
To support the growth of precincts from the ground-up, we work closely with our community and business groups, including our pilot Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) such as Discover Tanjong Pagar, Marina Central, Raffles Place Alliance and Singapore River One to activate precincts with events and activities, enhancing their vibrancy and appeal.
